The 4.96kW On-Grid Solar Power System is designed to cut your electricity bill by generating your own power and exporting the surplus to the grid. If you are facing high bills and your grid supply is reasonably reliable, an on-grid system is the shortest-payback way to bring those bills down. This system generates 480 to 600 units per month.
How the system works
When sunlight falls on the solar panels, DC power is produced and converted to AC by the inverter. Your appliances use this power directly during the day. When your generation exceeds your consumption, the surplus is exported to the electricity board through a bidirectional (net) meter. At night, when generation is zero, your home draws from the grid as usual. The net meter counts both directions the units you export and the units you draw and your bill is calculated on the net. If you consume more than you generate, you pay the difference; if you generate more, the credit carries forward. Over the month and year, that net metering turns your roof into a steady reduction on your bill.
Is this system suitable for you?
This system generates 16-20 units per day, 480-600 units per month on average, depending on the weather. Check your latest electricity bill for your monthly units consumed if it falls between 480 and 600 units, this 4.96kW system matches your usage.
The subsidy. Under PM Surya Ghar the residential subsidy caps at 3kW, so on a 4.96kW system you receive the maximum the scheme allows, with the capacity above 3kW paying for itself through generation rather than additional subsidy. SolarClue handles eligibility, application, DISCOM coordination and payout, and will show you the net cost and payback at your consumption.
SolarClue is India's managed solar marketplace. Our team confirms the system matches your consumption, handles your PM Surya Ghar subsidy application end to end, and coordinates design, structure, wiring, net-meter liaisoning and commissioning through verified partners. You book with a token payment rather than the full amount upfront. Talk to our team for the current price after subsidy and installation timeline in your city.
